I don't know if it was because there is basically no competition (since Orlando is a 90 mile drive, and the Wesley Chapel dealership is still not open), but there was a sense of "this is the only place you can buy this car, so we don't even have to try". There was no ease of negotiation, since I was buying a close-to-basic model. I was told I would have more leeway if I was buying a $40,000 model than a $25,000 model. It took 9 hours for 1-2 hours of work and I had to rent a vehicle overnight at Mini Coopers expense because it was too late in the day for me to get my vehicle when it was finished. Had to drive back the next day. 15 miles away. Ferman could have told me it would be a VERY long job, I could have gone home instead of hanging around the area for a few hours to hear that lit wouldn't be done for many many hours. However, it took 4 hours for a couple routine/minor maintenance issues, which was surprising and inconvenient -- I was expecting 1 to 2 hours, not 4. If I had been advised it would take that long, I would have planned accordingly (like, for instance, packed a lunch -- they ran out of bagels and I was not offered any other food.) The service advisor, recognizing that the wait was really not acceptable, did not charge me for the tire rotation/balance, and I appreciated that gesture as compensation for the long wait."
